Project case study

Goo Music

Cut and paste for the duct-tape of the web

Summary

Design of website for a manager of a successful band at work on their 2nd album.

Objective

Ben Kirby is the manager for The Subways, a going-places band who play loud shouty guitar music that your parents probably won’t like and that has been described as ‘compelling’, ‘scuzzy’, ‘hormonal’, ‘simmering’, ‘commanding’, ‘brash’, and ‘flawless’ by various pundits and journos. You might like it - have a listen. They’re working on their 2nd album now and Ben needed to update his site.

Solution

DharmaFly wanted a fresh design for the website - a single page where they could pool feeds from the scattered social networks like Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, Last.fm etc that have become the best way for bands and artists to reach out and touch their fanbase. After discussions together we decided it should have a rough and ready fanzine feel, a ‘heap of a site’ with a grungey, do-it-yourself, punk attitude.  We hope that’s the result.
